Treadmill Test

A treadmill test, or exercise stress test, assess how well your heart handles physical exertion.  This test helps diagnose heart conditions like coronary artery disease, evaluates exercise tolerance, investigates symptoms such as chest pain, and checks the effectiveness of treatments. It is generally safe and performed under medical supervision to manage any potential complications. Alternatives include pharmacological stress tests for those unable to exercise.

Procedure of TMT test

Initially the technician checks your vital signs, including resting heart rate and blood pressure by attaching electrodes to your chest and arms, connected to an ECG device. During the test, you will walk on a treadmill with gradually increasing speed and incline while connected to an electrocardiogram (ECG) to monitor your heart’s activity. Blood pressure and symptoms are also recorded. The test concludes after you maintain your target heart rate for 10 to 15 minutes. Then the technician collects sufficient data of your heart function. If you experience significant symptoms or decide to stop, the technicians may halt the test early for your safety.

A treadmill test machine is a specialized device used in medical settings to perform exercise stress tests. It consists of a treadmill for walking or running. ECG monitors your heart activity, and blood pressure measurement. This equipment helps evaluate your cardiovascular function during the physical activity.

Features Of Treadmill Test

The features of a treadmill test include ECG monitoring, blood pressure measurement, adjustable treadmill settings, safety features like handrails , emergency stop buttons, and data analysis software for interpreting test results.
